Satellite Views of the World

From flooding in the UK to ‘Snowmageddon’ in the US, the first 6 months of 2014 have provided a clear picture of earth’s changing weather patterns and highlighted wider environmental issues. Over recent years changing weather patterns and melting ice caps as a result of global warming, as well as natural hazards such as tsunamis, have shown how important environmental issues are and that more attention needs to be paid to them, a sentiment stressed by World Environment Day.

Using satellite images, our interactive map provides a series of glimpses into some of the most significant environmental events of the past two decades. Capturing forest fires, flooding, droughts, and more, these images show earth’s changing landscape and how necessary it is for environmental issues to remain at the forefront of public consciousness.
