On the 27^th December 2010 Eutelsat / Tooway successfully launched their new High Powered KA-Sat Satellite. With higher bandwidth capabilities of up to 70Gbs, and data re-use consumers will be able to experience service speeds of up to 10Mb.

Welsh Assembly Government Announces £2m Broadband Support Scheme

The Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) has recently announced its Broadband Support Scheme (BSS) for Businesses and residents of Wales. The scheme is aimed to help those whose present broadband speeds are less than 512kbs. With an initial fund of £2m available the scheme will fund the initial set up cost up to the value of £1000.00

This service when first introduced offered a 2M download speed. Now with the higher speeds running at 3.6M the gap is closing between Satellite & ADSL.
